Aashram Season 2 (MxPlayers) Review :-

In Kashipur (Uttar Pradesh), Baba Nirala Ji Maharaj, also known as Baba Kashipur Wale (Bobby Deol), intensifies his reign of terror, becoming more ruthless than ever. With Baba’s influence firmly in place, Bhopa (Chandan Roy Sanyal) remains unstoppable. Babita (Tridha Choudhury) has undergone a transformation, and Pammi’s (Aditi Pohankar) life has been drastically altered. Meanwhile, characters who were silent in season one, such as Sanobar and Kavita, are now finding the courage to share their stories. Ujagar Singh (Darshan Kumaar), led by Dr. Natasha Kataria (Anupriya Goenka), is on a determined mission, and Akki (Rajeev Siddhartha) refuses to be subdued. The second part of this crime drama delves into two critical aspects of Baba’s organized crimes: sexual exploitation and drug trafficking.

Aashram Season 2

In contrast to its first season, which tackled a multitude of social issues, the latest installment of Aashram hones in on two pressing and significant problems. While the overall tone remains consistent—Baba continues to create chaos with his trademark calm demeanor, Bhopa instills fear with his sharp tongue, and the duo’s sycophants continue their abusive behavior—there are notable shifts in execution. The pace is slower, and the undertones are more thoroughly explored. Each of the nine episodes in Aashram 2 runs for about 30 to 35 minutes, making them more compact compared to the previous season, even though the story unfolds at a more deliberate pace.

Writers Madhvi Bhatt, Avinash Kumar, Sanjay Masoomm, and Kuldeep Ruhil introduce a sub-theme of love into the lives of some of the downtrodden characters, and intriguingly, Baba shows signs of harboring twisted emotions himself. Characters like Sanobar (Preeti Sood) and Kavita (Anurita Jha) undergo significant transformations, with their personal arcs reaching resolution through confrontations. Although Baba ominously predicts, “Yeh chudail hain, sabko kha jayegi,” hinting at impending doom, the clever plotting keeps us guessing about who will seek revenge and how it will unfold.

Aashram Season 2 (MxPlayers) Trailor :-

The theme of systemic abuse of women and the strategies used to silence them is critical and needs widespread attention. Prakash Jha and his team of writers leave no stone unturned in highlighting this issue. While the portrayal of drug addicts and religious fanatics inevitably involves some melodrama, it’s a necessary element to convey the gravity of these situations.

Bobby Deol continues to excel, maintaining the compelling presence he established in the first season. Chandan Roy Sanyal portrays the menacing henchman with a level of intensity that makes him a formidable figure. The female cast—including Aditi Pohankar, Tridha Choudhury, Anurita Jha, Preeti Sood, and Anupriya Goenka—delivers outstanding performances, particularly in the intense confrontations between Aditi and Tridha. Although Goenka’s character, Niharika, plays a less prominent role in advancing the plot, she remains crucial in the quest for justice. Darshan Kumaar effectively embodies an undercover operative with a palpable drive for justice, while Rajeev Siddhartha, fueled by personal grievances, gives a standout performance in the second season. Adhyaman Suman, as a troubled rockstar touring with Baba, is overshadowed by his character’s loud and energetic antics, which limit his opportunity to showcase his acting skills.

A special shoutout to Chandan Kowli for his exceptional cinematography, which imparts a regal feel to the series. Similarly, production designer Udai Prakash Singh deserves praise for creating a period drama-like set without overwhelming the viewers. One standout scene features Baba ji attending an event at a ghat, where the lake is beautifully illuminated with diyas and garlands decorate the surroundings. Deol’s delivery of the line, “Japnaam japnaam…,” amidst this stunning visual, is particularly memorable. The background score by Inder Bawra, Sunny Bawra, and Advait Nemlekar effectively blends with the narrative, though it occasionally leans towards the dramatic.

‘Aashram 2’ explores themes of rage, revenge, and redemption, reinforcing the notion that silence is not an option. While the second season may not introduce significant new plot developments, it is gratifying to witness the characters finding some form of peace. In closing, we salute the series with a heartfelt ‘Japnaam!’
