Aaryan Review :-

The most intriguing aspect of Aaryan is that its villain’s monologue isn’t the conclusion, but the opening chapter of his meticulously planned story. For the first 15 minutes, we’re inside a TV studio with Azhagar (Selvaraghavan), a washed-up writer who hijacks a live broadcast. He rants about his five-day “serial killing story” before immediately setting out to carry it out. There’s a hint of Se7en here, with a killer obsessed with turning his warped philosophy into a public spectacle. Selvaraghavan delivers a compelling performance in this opening, but the film soon has to rely heavily on his recorded messages.

This sets the stage for DCP Nambi (Vishnu Vishal), the quintessential workaholic cop whose dedication has even landed him in divorce court with his wife (Maanasa Choudhary). The film swiftly transitions from a whodunit to a “howdunit” and eventually a “whydunit.” We watch Nambi piece together the clues, while Azhagar—like a more literary version of Jigsaw—leaves behind a series of pre-recorded videos to taunt the police and announce his next victims.

The plot itself can feel somewhat straightforward, with Nambi simply following the trail. The most unusual aspect lies in the “why.” Azhagar targets unsung heroes—a nurse, a soldier, an activist—people society has overlooked. His twisted reasoning is that by killing them, he’ll force the world to acknowledge their worth. It’s… a bit of a stretch, to say the least.

Final Thought

Fortunately, after a slow start, Aaryan picks up momentum in the second half. The mechanics of the murders and the ticking-clock tension provide genuinely gripping thrills. Vishnu Vishal anchors the film effectively, and the climax—where he becomes entangled in the killer’s narrative—is well-executed. Shraddah Srinath delivers a solid performance as a TV host caught up in the criminal scheme. Overall, it’s a competent thriller, though the social message in the final act feels somewhat forced.
