Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Review :-

A theatre artist embarking on a solo trip to Mussoorie, blindfolded for over two weeks and relying entirely on a stranger she hasn’t even seen, does stretch credibility. Jahaan conceals his visual impairment from Saba, finding in her company a rare sense of normalcy, free from pity or sympathy. The premise is unconventional, and if you overlook its implausibility, director Santosh Singh and writer Mansi Bagla deliver a feel-good romance set against the tranquil beauty of Mussoorie in the film’s first half. While there are several light-hearted moments and poetic lines, not all the comedy lands, and the story occasionally drifts into repetition.

The turning point arrives when Saba is ready to remove her blindfold, but Jahaan pulls away, fearing she might reject his reality and unwilling to risk a broken heart. As the story takes a more serious turn, the screenplay begins to lean into predictability. Three years later, Saba is dating her play’s director, Abhinav (Zain Khan Durrani)—the ideal, empathetic, and supportive boyfriend. By chance, Jahaan, now going by Kabir, joins the production as the play’s musician. The pace quickens and the narrative gains depth, delivering some genuinely strong scenes. Yet, it still leans on familiar tropes, and certain moments feel overstretched or misplaced. A notable misstep is the key confrontational scene where Saba and Jahaan down spiked drinks and embark on a psychedelic trip—undermining what could have been a powerful emotional exchange. What follows is a predictable resolution to a story that initially showed promise.

Tanveer Mir’s cinematography brings stunning visual appeal, beautifully capturing the majestic landscapes of Mussoorie alongside the charm of European settings. Vishal Mishra’s soothing musical score further enhances the film’s atmosphere. Despite its narrative flaws, the film shines through its lead performances. Shanaya Kapoor makes an impressive debut, showcasing a strong screen presence and handling emotional scenes with ease. Vikrant Massey once again proves his versatility with a nuanced portrayal that balances both lighthearted and intense moments. Even with limited screen time, Zain Khan Durrani delivers a commendable performance.
