The film opens with chaos engulfing a neighborhood, where buildings are mysteriously catching fire with alarming frequency. Sadik Adil Öçal, who lives in this troubled area, has been struggling for years to publish a successful mystery novel. After yet another rejection, his curiosity is piqued when the woman who regularly fed cats outside his house suddenly disappears. Driven by intrigue, he sets out to find her while also grappling with another case in which he himself is the victim.
As the story unfolds, it takes us through a gripping, twisted case that’s bound to keep anyone hooked. What begins as a simple missing-person investigation quickly escalates into something far larger as Sadik starts noticing small but significant details surrounding the woman’s disappearance. The plot twists are as captivating for the audience as they are for Sadik, and there are moments when a sudden realization lights up his eyes, making his journey even more thrilling.
That said, the plot can be quite confusing at times. There are moments when things just don’t seem to make sense, and the shifts in scenes, characters, and their backstories can be disorienting. This might be partly because it’s the third film in a trilogy, and understanding the characters and their arcs likely requires watching the first two films.
As for the characters, I appreciate the dramatic shifts in Sadik’s personality, as he adapts to the situation and presents himself accordingly. While the final scenes unveil the mystery (which, personally, I found unsatisfying), it becomes clear that the case was little more than a tool for him to craft a new novel. This raises the question: what was the point of everything that happened before?
In the end, the film left me feeling uncertain about whether it was truly worth the watch or just a waste of time. It’s one of those movies that might resonate with a select few, so whether you’ll enjoy it depends largely on your taste and expectations.
